David A. Schones is the Director of the Veterans Onward Program and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Humanities at Austin College. He holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Southern Methodist University specializing in Biblical Studies. He also studied at the University of Oklahoma (B.A., 2010) and Brite Divinity School (M.T.S., 2013) where he wrote his thesis on the Dead Sea Scrolls. His current research interests include disability studies, gender studies, infertility, and the cultural study of religion. His dissertation, entitled “Infertility in 1 Samuel 1: Toward a Hermeneutic of Reproduction” employs social scientific models to analyze the conceptualization and stigmatization of involuntary childlessness in this text.
