Eric Abbey, PhD, is a professor of English and literature at Oakland Community College in Michigan. He is the author of Distillation of Sound: Dub and the Creation of Culture (published by Intellect), co-editor of Hardcore, Punk, and Other Junk: Aggressive Sounds in Contemporary Music (published by Lexington), and the author of Garage Rock and Its Roots: Musical Rebels and the Drive for Individuality (published by McFarland), along with multiple chapters in edited collections and two textbooks for Composition 1 and 2. His continuing work focuses on dub and recording strategies in Jamaica.
