Dr. Katrina Younes is an Assistant Professor (LTA) at Trent University (Peterborough, Ontario). Her research focuses on literature and gender studies, with a specific focus on climate change and systemic violence. One of her major critical and theoretical projects has been the introduction of the concept of “eco-noir”—an idea she explores in her first book, The Ecology of American Noir (2025). In this monograph, she reimagines American noir and its subgenres through an ecocritical lens, a perspective that has been notably underexplored within noir scholarship. Her current research turns to American and global environmental media and fiction to examine how race and gender shape representations of ecological crisis.
