A Conversation with John Waters

The Response Editorial Team

Film director and cult icon John Waters was the recipient of the first Divine Impact Award at the MAPACA Conference in Baltimore, 2014. This award recognizes outstanding creative or scholarly achievement in the production, performance, or scholarly consideration of popular culture that exhibits exceptional contribution, longevity, originality, and impact.

This video slideshow features a conversation with John Waters moderated by Jason Davids Scott, Film Studies Area Chair and Vice-President of Publications for MAPACA, where Waters discusses his career, the city of Baltimore, changes in LGBT-related issues, and his book Carsick. The audio was recorded and produced by Jordan McLain, and the media design is by Elora Mastison. We are grateful for the permission of Mr. Waters to record and publish this discussion.
